Bikes Return To Rightful Owners After Raid

A police raid on a west end bike shop has led to a pleasant surprise for several GTA residents reunited with their allegedly stolen rides after a sting operation at the Bicycle Clinic.

The shop, located at 927 Queen St West; and its owner, Igor Kenk; were the target of an investigation by Toronto Police.

Officers allege that they saw Kenk and an accomplice paired up to steal a ride: Kenk allegedly gave directions while the other man, Jean Laveau, who reportedly did the dirty work.

None of these accusations have been proven, but on Saturday police opened up the confiscated bikes to the public for identification and reclamation.

For example, if you know of any storage facilities that are owned or rented by either of the men, contact police at 416-808-1400 or Crime Stoppers  416-222-TIPS (8477) to remain anonymous.

As of noon on Saturday, more than 30 bicycles have be identified and returned to their rightful owners.

Officers at 14 Division still want to know if you know anything about the Bicycle Clinic, its owner or his alleged accomplice.

And if you think your bike is among the missing, the seized goods will be on display Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 6pm at 9 Hanna Avenue.

You can also protect your ride by registering it when you get there, or do so online.
