Deadly Crash Kills One At 400 And Wilson

A deadly crash Sunday morning has killed one man, believed to be the only person in the car.

The single-vehicle collision happened just before 6am under the 400.

Officers on scene say the Oldsmobile was headed east on Wilson Avenue when it crashed into a concrete pillar.

Cops claim the speeding car blasted through a red light at Clayson Road, struck the south curb, mounted the sidewalk and collided with the bridge overpass support of Highway 400.

When emergency crews arrived, the driver didn’t have any vital signs. The 57-year-old Toronto man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim’s name is being withheld at the request of the family.

Speed, alcohol and the lack of a seatbelt are all believed to be factors

It’s Toronto’s 41st traffic death of 2008.

Wilson was closed from Clayson to Jethroas investigators worked to find out what happened, and to clear the area.
