Boy George Could Face Prison Time For Latest Conviction

Boy George behind bars?

It could happen, after a jury on Friday convicted the singer of falsely imprisoning a male escort. Audun Carlsen alleged the musician restrained him with handcuffs at a London apartment in April of 2007.

The 29-year-old Carlsen also claimed the former Culture Club singer swung a metal chain at him as he ran from the singer’s apartment following a naked photo shoot.

Tried under his real name, George O’Dowd, the singer admitted to handcuffing Carlsen as he looked into whether or not the man had tampered with his computer.

Jurors reportedly saw pictures of Carlsen where he’d sustained welts to his head and other injuries on his arm, which he claimed the 46-year-old musician had inflicted. O’Dowd apparently couldn’t explain the injuries.

The 80s star was released on bail but is due to be sentenced on January 16 and the judge in the case admitted he could face jail.

“This is a case where custody is the more likely option,” Judge David Radford said.

Two years ago Boy George was ordered to do community service in New York after pleading guilty to falsely reporting that his Manhattan apartment had been robbed. Investigators arrived on the scene to find cocaine.
