Stanley Carter says he just wanted a place to spend Christmas – and a couple of gifts as well.
Police in Plains Township, Pennsylvania reportedly found the 21-year-old man in the attic of a duplex apartment after the homeowners reported missing cash, a laptop computer and an iPod.
The officers got wise when footprints were spotted in a bedroom closet where a trap door leads to the attic.
Carter eventually emerged, and it’s alleged he was wearing clothes snagged during his days in hiding. Police say he even kept a list of everything he took, writing “Stanley’s Christmas List” on it.
Though it’s unclear why he bolted, Carter was reported missing December 19 by the homeowners’ neighbours, with whom he had been staying.
Carter snuck next door through a shared attic.
