A high-risk takedown in Scarborough Friday night led to the arrests of three suspects wanted in connection with two robberies in Durham Region.
It was around 8pm the same night when it’s alleged a 20-year-old victim was walking along Valleyfarm Road in Pickering and was approached by two males.
Both suspects were reportedly carrying imitation semi-automatic handguns and stole the victim’s wallet and knapsack before fleeing in a Ford Fusion driven by a female accomplice.
The suspects then drove to Whitby and at approximately 10pm entered the parking lot of the McDonald’s restaurant on Consumers Drive.
Two of them approached a pair seated in a vehicle and again produced their weapons, robbing one of the victims of his cell phone.
The second victim was struck with a handgun but wasn’t seriously injured. The suspects fled the scene in their Ford Fusion and were observed heading westbound on Highway 401.
With help from the OPP and Toronto Police, responding Durham Regional Police officers conducted a takedown of the suspect vehicle on Kingston Road in Scarborough.
All three inside the car were arrested without incident for the robbery offences and two imitation semi-automatic handguns were located and seized.
Stolen property from the victims was also recovered.
Tremayne Anton, 22, Mitchell Gillingham, 18, and Micheline Modica, 21, are charged with numerous criminal offences.
