Rengel Jury Deliberates For A Third Day

It’s the third day of deliberations for the jury in the Stefanie Rengel murder trial.

The twelve men and women are deciding whether to find a 17-year-old girl guilty or not guilty of first-degree murder in Rengel’s death. Stefanie was only 14 when she was stabbed six times and left for dead outside her parents’ house on New Year’s Day of 2008.

Prosecutors argued that the accused used instant messages and a threat to withhold sex in order to pressure her boyfriend to kill Rengel.

But the defence maintains jurors shouldn’t draw the intent to kill from messages sent over the Internet.

The boyfriend, now 19, also faces a charge of first-degree murder. He goes to trial in the fall.
