Puppy Found In Squalor Ready To Be Adopted

There may not be a lot of sure things in life but here are two of them: the dog you’re looking at is too cute for words and a lot of people would love to have her in their home.

Her name is Bella and she’s one of five dogs rescued from deplorable conditions in a west end home six weeks ago. The animal, along with her parents and two other pooches, were neglected, in squalor and in terrible health.

They were all rescued by the Toronto Humane Society (THS), which has spent the month restoring them all to health. Bella is now eight weeks old and is both frisky and adorable, romping around an exercise yard and looking like the charming Chihuahua mix she was meant to be.

Officials were forced to bottle feed the little puppy for two weeks until she regained her strength.  Now that she has, comes the next step – finding her a loving home.

Somehow, THS officials don’t think that will be a problem. They’ve already fielded hundreds of calls from people who want to make Bella a part of their family. Choosing the right one won’t be easy.

“We’re going to pick the one that best suits Bella and the only one that she’ll do the best home in,” vows the Society’s Ian McConachie. The other four animals have all been adopted and Bella is the last to go. “Fortunately for a little girl like Bella, she’ll have lots to choose from.”

The owners who left the dogs in their terrible state will likely face charges of neglect.

That hopefully won’t be Bella’s fate ever again. Depending on how quickly the THS can whittle down the list of candidates, she could be ready to find a new place to call home in a week.
