Toronto Files Labour Board Petition To Keep EMS At Required Levels During Strike

When two of the city’s unions walked off the job on June 22, they promised that the following services would not be affected:

TTC, police, fire, long-term care facilities, emergency 911 calls and urgent EMS care, and sewage and water treatment would remain intact; guaranteed CUPE Locals 79 and 416.

However, they warned, non-emergency and low-priority 911 calls could be compromised.

Now, the City of Toronto has filed a petition with the Ontario Labour Relations Board to get the number of paramedics and dispatchers back up to normal standards.
