Victim Identified In City’s Latest Murder

The city’s latest murder victim has been identified.

Tevanne Sean Lennon, 22, was gunned down on Monday night while riding his bike near Martin Grove Road and Finch Avenue.

Emergency crews found him on Bagwell Crescent around 1:10am on Tuesday. Despite their best efforts, he died en route to hospital.

“He was transported by ambulance but was determined to be deceased. They went back to the scene so the coroner could come and visit them there,” noted Insp. Randy Carter.

“He’s a good kid,” his step-father said on Tuesday.

“But you know kids. They hang out here, they hang out there, but he’s a good kid. A very good kid, a very good kid. And it’s the only kid the mother has. One son.”

Police said the victim was known to them.

Neighbors reported hearing as many as 10 gunshots on Monday night.

Officers believe that an older model, dark vehicle approached Lennon while he was cycling, and someone inside the car fired several shots out the window.

“A vehicle approached him, one of the occupants of that vehicle on the driver side rolled down the windows, extended his arm and started shooting,” said Det. Sgt. Frank Skubic.

The vehicle then fled the scene. The car is described as a Honda Civic or similar style, with tinted windows.

The suspect is described as

  • male
  • dark black complexion
  • wearing black clothing and a black fitted baseball cap

Officers praised residents for cooperating with their investigation and added that more people need to come forward.

Lennon’s death marks Toronto’s 36th homicide of the year.

An autopsy will be conducted on Wednesday.
