Police Search For Second Suspect In Death Of Man Who Tried To Stop A Robbery

Police have made one arrest and are searching for a second suspect in the city’s 35th murder of the year.

Zabiullah Mojaddedi, 22, was shot to death on the evening of August 5 while trying to stop an assault.

Mojaddedi and a friend “came to the aid of two people that were being robbed,” Detective Peter Code of the Homicide Squad revealed on Friday.

It happened in the Gilder Drive and Eglinton Avenue East area.

Officers allege that two suspects were in the process of robbing another two people when Mojaddedi and a friend intervened.

“As a result, there was a physical altercation…the accused discharged their weapons,” Code described.

“The one thing that’s very troubling about this is that the area is very heavily populated. There were children in the playground, there were families in the area, a series of young people playing basketball and soccer.

“It was a very nice evening. It’s very troubling, their decision to discharge their weapons,” Code said.

Tristan Lall, 25, was arrested without incident on Thursday and charged with first degree murder.

Police are still searching for the second suspect.

He is described as:

  • male
  • black
  • 5’4″ – 5’6″
  • medium build
  • collar length hair worn in braids
