Second Court Appearance For Family Accused Of Killing Three Sisters, Wife

Three members of a Montreal family accused in what police call a quadruple murder will appear Friday by a video hookup in a court in Kingston, Ontario.
This will be the second court appearance for Mohammed Shafia, his wife Tooba Mohammed Yahya, and their 18-year-old son Hamed Shafia.
They are each charged with four counts of first-degree murder and four counts of conspiracy to commit murder.
Six weeks ago, the bodies of the parents’ three teenage daughters and Mohammed Shafia’s first wife were found in a car that was submerged in the Rideau Canal near Kingston.
No pleas were entered by the three accused on Aug. 6, when they made their first court appearance, also by video link.
Mohammed Shafia is being held at the Ottawa-Carleton Detention Centre, while Yahya and Hamed Shafia are at the Quinte Detention Centre in Napanee, Ontario.
