OPP Cruisers Damaged In High Speed Chase

Two OPP cruisers were damaged in a high-speed chase that began in Bolton – but ended up in Brampton.

The trouble began at Highway 50. An officer suspected that a driver was impaired and attempted to pull the motorist over.

Instead, he fled the scene.

The pursuit hit speeds of 180 kilometres an hour as officers gave chase.

Eventually, Peel Region Police were called in to help and they brought the canine unit with them.

It wasn’t enough. The suspect managed to elude the dogs, but he left his vehicle behind.

OPP cruisers were able to trap the car around 2:15am on Wednesday on Northpark Drive. Their cars were damaged in the collision and the suspect escaped on foot.

A civilian in one of the police cars sustained minor injuries in the crash.
