A drunk driver has been sentenced to two years less a day in the death of 17-year-old Ravi Madhai.
Dawn Cox, 39, was speeding on the Gardiner Expressway in March 2006 when she lost control of her SUV, hit another car and the guardrail.
She was convicted of dangerous driving causing death.
As part of her sentence, she is also banned from driving for the next five years.
Madhai’s family reacted to the sentence Friday morning outside the courts.
“We are happy that justice has been served, and we can move on with our lives,” the boy’s father, Ram Madhai, said.
Madhai, who had been doing odd jobs for Cox earlier that day, was in the back seat and was killed instantly in the crash.
