Olympic Pride Takes Over Yonge And Dundas Square

National pride came to Yonge and Dundas Square on Sunday as thousands took to the streets to celebrate a gold-medal hockey game.

The Canadian team won top prize in a nail-biting finish, thanks to a last-minute goal from Sidney Crosby in overtime.

When the dust settled, Canada was left with 14 gold medals – the most of any country during a Winter Olympics.

We ended up with 26 medals, including seven silver and five bronze awards.

The home of Citytv was the site of a massive celebration as revelers cheered and sang ‘Oh Canada’ well into the night.

While quite a few Toronto residents had come for the game, even more came for the party.

Jonathan Toews and Corey Perry scored for Canada in the first and second period, but Ryan Kesler cut the margin to 2-1 in the second. With less than two minutes left, the United States pulled goalie Ryan Miller for a man advantage.

That’s when Zach Parise tied the game and an entire country was glued to the television screens.

But the home team prevailed – as if you couldn’t tell by the honking car horns that lasted well into the night.
