We’ve all heard the saying you can’t teach an old dog new tricks … but there may be exceptions to the rule.
New research shows you can train your brain much like you do your muscles.
Retraining your brain can be as easy as learning how to flex the parts involved in things that are critical for success.
That’s the finding of a new book. The Winner’s Brain: Eight Strategies Great Minds Use to Achieve Success.
Co-author and University of Guelph professor Mark Fenske told 680News you can improve things like focus, memory and risk assessment skills.
“Our brain still retains its capacity for change … we can learn to do things better,” he said.
Fenske said a great brain booster is physical exercise.
Learning a new language or musical instrument can also improve brain function.
