Tax Deadline Is Hours Away

Get your calculator fingers reader: the tax deadline is just hours away.

The last minute to file is midnight on Friday April 30.

And the penalties for filing late are stiff: if you miss the Canada Revenue Agency cut-off time and you owe money, you’ll be gouged with a five per cent increase.

In addition, you will be charged one per cent for each month your return is late up to a maximum of 12 per cent.

To help you out, a few Canada Post locations will have extended hours – but not all of them will. Check with the branch you use most often first.
