Talking with Jake Gyllenhaal

In Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, a fun, action-packed adventure that is reminiscent of the Indiana Jones films, Jake Gyllenhaal plays Dastan — an orphan who was adopted into royalty. Not one for convention, Dastan doesn’t play by all the rules. He hangs with a gang of villagers, fights a lot, and can scale a building faster than Spider-Man. For the role, Gyllenhaal had to learn the art of Parkour (the ability to navigate over objects the quickest way possible only using your body), how to properly use a sword, and he also had to nail a British accent worthy of being in the company of Sir Ben Kingsley. As Gyllenhaal puts it, it was like acting out a “childhood dream”.
