Torontonians are weathering another day of scorching temperatures – so much so, the city’s medical officer of health has issued a heat alert for the city until further notice.
With Sunday’s high expected to top out at 31 degrees, officials are urging people to take care out in the sun. Drink lots of water, and try to get in air-conditioned facilities like shopping malls.
Be sure to check on any family, friends or neighbours that may have underlying health issues. Try to avoid strenuous physical outdoor activity between 11am and 4 pm. And never leave the elderly, pets or children unattended in a car.
Anybody struggling with the heat or who has questions can contact the Canadian Red Cross Heat Information Line at 416-480-2615 between 9am and 9pm.
