Pride organizers to marry couples on float during parade

TORONTO – Pride organizers are planning to celebrate five years of legalized same sex marriages in Canada, by marrying ten couples on a moving float during this year’s Pride parade.

Five of the couples who plan to marry are from the United States, where for the most part, same sex marriage is still illegal.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of Toronto’s Pride parade.

Toronto’s Pride festival is a week later this year, and will not conflict with the G20 summit. The parade will be held on July 4.
