Woman Killed In Crash On Hwy. 410

A woman was killed and three others were injured in a multi-vehicle collision on Highway 410 in Brampton Friday morning.

The accident happened on the southbound lanes at Williams Parkway around 6:30am when a van crossed the highway, from the northbound side to the south, and collided head-on with a silver Intrepid, killing Jolanta Rudnicka, 52.

The 45-year-old driver of the van was airlifted to Sunnybrook hospital with critical injuries.

“The white van traveling northbound on the 410 lost control, for unknown reasons at this time, crossed over the centre median into the southbound lanes and struck a Chrysler Intrepid head-on,” OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford explained.

A pickup truck hauling a trailer then smashed into the Intrepid and the van. The driver and passenger in the truck were taken to a Brampton hospital with minor injuries.

Police are investigating whether a medical condition or fatigue caused the crash, but say the driver of the van was sober.

Rudnicka lived in Brampton with her husband and two daughters and was on her way to work at Starsky’s food in Mississauga when the crash happened.

Her funeral will likely be held on Sunday or Monday.
