StreetBeat – June 15 – East End Stabbing

A man was taken to hospital early Tuesday after a stabbing near York Mills and Victoria Park.

The victim, believed to be in his 40s, was knifed in the abdomen just after 5am at an apartment building on Combermere Drive.

The man’s injuries aren’t believed to be life-threatening.

A woman was taken into custody at the scene and there’s no word on charges.


Basement Fire

Officials are investigating a basement fire on Snowshoe Crescent, in the Steeles and Highway 404 area.

Three people were treated for smoke inhalation at the scene just before 1am Tuesday.

There’s no damage estimate yet, but the cause is believed to be suspicious.


Man Wanted In Fraud Investigation

Toronto Police are looking for a man who’s accused of bilking would-be travellers out of trips – and cash.

Jorge Enrique Aroca (pictured below), 57, allegedly operated as a travel agent under World Tours International, 1928 Eglinton Ave. W.

His customers provided the suspect with their credit card information to purchase airline tickets, but the tickets never arrived – and Aroca allegedly also used the credit card information for other purchases.

Aroca allegedly closed his business and fled the area. He’s been charged with:

  • nine counts of Fraud Under
  • nine counts of Fraudulently use credit card data
  • False pretences.

He is described as:

  • white
  • 5’7″
  • medium build
  • short, dark hair.

Police believe there may be more victims.
