HIV/AIDS Memorial Vigil

The rainbow flag will soon be seen all over Toronto, with Pride Week set to kick off Friday.

But before beginning the massive celebration, Toronto’s LGBT community paused Thursday to remember those lost to HIV and AIDS with a candlelight vigil.

Currently, 18, 000 people in Toronto are currently living with HIV/AIDS. Every day, two more people become infected.

2.5 million people die from the disease worldwide.

The Pride Festival is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year with a theme of “You Belong.” The big pride parade hits the streets on Sunday, July 4.
