Seven months after an animal cruelty investigation shut down the River Street facility, the Toronto Humane Society has reopened.

Adoptions began at noon on Monday, with cats and kittens available to take home.

There’s a new president and a new board of directors in charge, and the veterinary clinic has been newly reaccredited by the College of Veterinarians.

The Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (OSPCA) has had control of the THS since the November 2009 raid. Several former officials, including former president Tim Trow, are facing animal cruelty charges.
