Naval theme to Queen Elizabeth’s second day in Canada

HALIFAX, N.S. – On the second day of Queen’s Elizabeth’s visit to Canada, the monarch took part in ceremonies marking the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Navy.
First, she dedicated a plaque for HMCS Sackville outside the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic. The event was attended by between 400 and 500 Veterans, many of whom she engaged in conversation as she walked about the area. Prince Phillip was also given a Royal Canadian Navy tie.
She then boarded a ship to conduct an international fleet review of war ships off the Halifax coast. 11 Canadian and 17 foreign war vessels took part in the event.
The Queen was met by three cheers from the crew of every ship as she sailed by.
A fly pass by three Sea King Helicopters took to the sky, but due to fog rolling in, the conditions were not deemed suitable for the Snowbirds to do a fly by, unlike originally planned.
More ceremonies are due to be held Tuesday evening.
