TTC Cleanliness Audit Takes Aim At Filthy Stations

TTC subway stations are getting a failing grade on cleanliness — from the transit commission itself.
The TTC has revealed results from their cleanliness audit, admitting that two thirds of their 69 subway stations were below their own standards.
The audit found that while 21 of 69 stations achieved up to 80% cleanliness, not one managed to score above that.
There have been some improvements since 2008 when 6 stations rated below 50% or “unkempt neglect”. This time none hit that low, but the TTC says a lack of money for more staff prevents them from doing better.
Riders should begin to see a marked improvement in the subway stations within a few months. The TTC has hired 30 temporary staff for a six-month cleaning blitz beginning in August.
