SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. – Bloomberg Business News has reported Apple has no plans to recall the iPhone 4 after problems with its antenna were discovered.
In the early design phase of the newest iPhone model, some concern was expressed that the way the antenna was designed could lead to dropped calls, according to a source familiar with the subject.
The phone carries a metal antenna that surrounds the outside of the device. The design was chosen by Apple executives because it made the handset lighter and thinner.
However, Consumer Reports has not endorsed the phone due to complaints about dropped and degraded calls.
One wireless carrier stated their concerns about the antenna, prior to the phone’s U.S. release last month.
The iPhone 4 is currently not available in Canada.
