A man has disappeared after witnesses saw him being pulled from a Markham home destroyed by fire late Tuesday night.
Area residents said around midnight, they heard an explosion come from the house near Bur Oak and 16th avenues, and the resulting fire destroyed at least three other homes.
Bystanders say a man was pulled from the house, but drove away before police arrived.
Authorities are trying to determine if criminal activity caused the fire and would like to speak with the man, adding he may need medical attention.
Witnesses describe him as white, 18 to 20 years old, with a slim build and shoulder-length, blond hair. He was wearing a dark-coloured hooded sweatshirt.
