TORONTO, Ont. – It may be July and the sun may be shining down, but that doesn’t mean Santa Claus isn’t still hard at work.
Dressed in red polka dot shorts and spreading holiday cheer, Kris Kringle was at Pearson Airport handing out Allan Candy Canes to travelers as he prepared to take a trip to meet with other Santas from around the globe.
Santa is heading off to the Santa Claus World Congress in Copenhagen, Denmark where dozens of holiday helpers from around the world will gather.
“They all show up to discuss ideas and find out the best ways to land on roofs, you know? That sort of thing. We have concerts and do different things to show other Santas how we do our thing,” said Toronto’s Santa.
The World Santa Claus Congress is the professional forum and social venue for real Santa Clauses from around the world. In its 53rd year, the Congress is held in Copenhagen and is attended by more than 150 Santas and their elves who participate in a variety of competitions, charity events, a Christmas gala show, the Honorary Santa of the Year Award and lots of Christmas cheer and fun.
