Metric is expected to draw a huge crowd in front of Union Station Wednesday evening.

The Juno-award winning band is playing a free concert at the Union Sqaure Plaza. The show starts at 7pm and could cause some problems for commuters.

Metric is playing the concert as part of a Samsung cellphone promotion. The sponsor initially refused to name the headliner fearing there would be an overwhelming crush of fans arriving at the venue early, but word eventually leaked out.

The band’s latest album, Fantasies, was released in 2009. Metric’s single “Eclipse (All Yours)” appears on the Twighlight Saga: Eclipse soundtrack.

Metric is also playing a free show in New York City on Thursday.
