TORONTO, Ont. – The forecast is calling for a sticky hot week, so the opening of Toronto’s new urban beach is good news.
Canada’s Sugar Beach and Water’s Edge Promenade officially opens Monday morning at the foot of Lower Jarvis Street, next to the Redpath Sugar Factory.
The 85-hundred-square-metre park is the first public space visitors will see as they walk along Queens Quay.
It will be hard to miss thanks to the bright pink beach umbrellas and iconic candy-striped rocks.
There is also a water feature embedded in a granite maple leaf.
The waterfront promenade runs to Sherbourne Street but will eventually be extended east to Parliament Street.
