Harper In Mississauga For Rapid Transit Project

The Prime Minister was in Mississauga on Tuesday for the beginning of a rapid transit project.
Stephen Harper was on hand as construction began on a dedicated bus corridor.
It’s hoped that the 100 km route stretching from Oakville to Pickering will ease congestion in the GTA.
In Mississauga alone, the bus rapid transit (BRT) will cover 18 km. The BRT will connect Winston Churchill Boulevard in the west to Renforth Drive in the east.
Harper called it the “public transit equivalent of a super highway.”
The $259 million project is expected to be completed in 2013.
