17-year-old struck, killed by TTC bus

TORONTO, Ont. – Toronto police want more information after a 17-year-old boy was stuck and killed by a bus on the Lakeshore.

Police told 680News a TTC bus was traveling eastbound on the Lakeshore around 10 p.m. ET. Three pedestrians tried to cross the street as the bus was approaching a crosswalk on a green light. Two of them turned back, but the boy was run over.

The boy received life threatening injuries and was still trapped under the bus when paramedics arrived on scene.

“He was transported to hospital, but pronounced dead at the hospital as a result of the injuries he received in the collision,” said Sergeant Tim Burrows.

Burrows said there were several hundred people in the area attending a Woodbine beach party.

The boy’s name has not been released.
