Grant De Patie’s killer going back to prison

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) – The National Parole Board took less than 15 minutes to decide convict Darnell Pratt should go back to prison after he violated his statutory release conditions.
Pratt was convicted of dragging gas station attendant Grant De Patie to his death after a gas and dash in Maple Ridge in 2005.
In June, Pratt violated the conditions of his release when he went to a bar after leaving a Kamloops halfway house. Pratt admitted he drank and violated his curfew two days after his statutory release, saying the stress of his release got to him.
De Patie’s father Doug read a sharp victim impact statement arguing Pratt has “played the system,” and called him “a sociopath.” “Once again I hope that he does what he said he was going to do, grow up… I don’t see a good future for him.”
Pratt served two-thirds of a six year sentence in the dragging death of Grant De Patie in 2005. His next statutory release date is November 2011.
