Man stopped after marijuana falls from backpack

WALPOLE ISLAND, Ont. – Officers confirm that a man was arrested Wednesday night after he was spotted with marijuana falling out of his backpack.

The substance was revealed after the suspect was stopped and then ran away, as the quick move caused his backpack to open.

Later, the backpack was found with more than 2.2 kilograms of marijuana inside.

The man, who lives on the Walpole Island First Nations reserve, made a court appearance Friday. He has been charged with possessing a controlled substance and escaping from police.
