Man charged after parking enforcement officer punched

A Toronto parking enforcement officer was punched in the face by an irate driver over the weekend.

According to police, the officer put a ticket on an illegally-parked truck in the Kipling and Steeles avenues area on Saturday night. That is when its owner approached the officer and knocked him to the ground.

The driver, 67-year-old Staford Wright, has been charged with assault.

Wright is slated to appear in court on Oct. 11.
