Disney Wants Your Memories

Imagine seeing your face projected onto Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World, or video of your kids featured in Disneyland’s ‘it’s a small world’ ride.

Disney’s new ‘Let The Memories Begin’ campaign, announced Thursday in New York City, is all about featuring the experiences of people who visit the parks. Actor Michael J. Fox was there to help kick off the campaign, as was Dancing with the Stars co-host Tom Bergeron, who emceed the event.

“We wanted to give our guests a powerful way to share the memories they create every day in our parks,” said Tom Staggs, chairman of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts. “Essentially, this becomes our first user-generated show and our first user-generated marketing campaign.”

Initiated by a recent Ypartnership survey that found close to nine out of ten U.S. and Canadian adults (88 per cent of those surveyed) plan their family vacations with the hope of creating special memories, ‘Let the Memories Begin’ will incorporate your “only-at-Disney” stories, photos, and videos into Disney’s upcoming TV ad campaign as well as into a special show projected onto Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World in Florida and on Disneyland’s ‘it’s a small world’ attraction in California.

Disney Parks also announced on Thursday updates to their Disneyland and Walt Disney World theme parks, a new cruise line sailing to Alaska, and a resort and spa in Hawaii opening in early 2011.
