Toronto sets new temperature record

TORONTO, Ont. – On this second day of fall, it feels as though summer has come back to the city.

Downtown, people filled restaurant patios during their lunch break to enjoy the unusually warm weather.

The GTA is experiencing record high temperatures and with the humidity, some areas have climbed past 30C.

Environment Canada will confirm the new record Saturday when they release their official numbers.

680News meteorologist Jill Taylor says you should not get too comfortable with the hot weather.

“It’s not going to last for long. The cooler air is going to move in and it’s going to be a lot cooler for the weekend. The gusty wind is going to stick around until Saturday.”

The hottest temperature on record for September 24 in Toronto is 27.2 degrees set in 1968.
