Central Technical School lockdown lifted; no one injured

TORONTO, Ont. – Students attending Central Technical School were in lockdown for over three hours, Thursday, after a shot was fired in a stairwell.
Over the lunch hour, there were reports of gunshot sounds coming from a stairwell at the school, which is located at 725 Bathurst St., at Harbord Street.
An official with the Toronto District School Board told 680News the lockdown started at about 1:15 p.m. Students were not allowed to leave their classrooms.
As part of the investigation, King Edward Public School was also under lockdown but that was also lifted.
Toronto police Const. Tony Vella confirmed the shooting to 680News and said thankfully no one was harmed.
“The shell casings were found within the school so defiantly a confirmed shooting at this point. It is quite serious any time a occurs within in a school.” said Const. Vella. “The officers are dedicated to try to find out who’s responsible but, again, no one has been hurt.”
Police found a person they thought was the suspect, but determined from questioning he was the victim.
No one was allowed in or out of the building during the lockdown, and students were being kept in their classrooms. Those who left the property over the lunch hour were not able to enter the school once they returned.
Police said they did not give the all clear until every room in the school had been checked.
