Brampton school to be named after David Suzuki

BRAMPTON, Ont. – A Brampton school has been named after award-winning scientist, environmentalist and broadcaster David Suzuki.

Peel District School Board announced Tuesday that their newest secondary school will be named David Suzuki Secondary School and will be located in the Springbrook area of Brampton.

The school is scheduled to open in the fall of 2011 and will include an environmental focus.

The schools plan will include a partnership with the Credit Valley Conservation Authority, a week dedicated to highlighting environmental education issues and use litterless lunches as well as other waste reduction activities.

Suzuki is a recipient of the Order of Canada and is best known for his long running CBC series The Nature of Things.
