After a poll released Wednesday showed him with just 4 per cent voter support, Rocco Rossi announced he’s giving up his bid to become Toronto’s next mayor.
Rossi also announced he will not be endorsing another candidate for the position, saying that’s not why he decided to run for mayor in the first place.
There has been increasing pressure on Rossi to drop out, as the race continues to narrow focus on candidates George Smitherman and Rob Ford.
Rossi, who has been consistently polling in the single digits for the past few months, has previously resisted calls to quit saying an underdog candidate can quickly pick up momentum.
It’s been a rough week in the Rossi camp. His campaign team lost several staff to George Smitherman, including his former campaign manager Sachin Aggarwal.
Earlier this month, candidate Sarah Thomson also dropped out, but decided to throw her support behind George Smitherman.
