Another poll keeps Smitherman and Ford in dead heat

Just four days before the municipal election, mayoral candidates Rob Ford and George Smitherman are in a statistical tie at 30 and 31 per cent, according to a Leger poll.

It has Pantalone farther back at 10 per cent and the undecided at 18 per cent.

Nearly half of those polled (47 per cent) think Rob Ford would bring the most change to City Hall while only 23 per cent think Smitherman is a man of change — but more people (42 per cent) think George Smitherman would make a better mayor compared to 36 per cent who think Ford would be a better leader.

The poll points out that combining the support of Smitherman and Pantalone means most people in the city don’t want the kind of change that a Ford victory would bring.

The exectutive vice president of Leger Polling told The Toronto Sun that if Pantalone doesn’t drop out (which there is no indication he will), then a lot of people are going to have to make the choice between voting for him (knowing he won’t win ) or choosing between Smitherman and Ford.
