Man Killed In Early Morning Accident

Toronto police are investigating an accident that claimed a man’s life in the city’s west end early Sunday morning.

The incident took place on 96 Jameson Avenue just before 5am.

A 36-year-old driver was crushed to death when trying to access the underground parking at the building where he lived.

“At 4:44 police were called to the scene at 96 Jameson. A gentleman managed to get himself pinned between the vehicle and the building…The ambulance showed up and despite their best efforts the gentleman was pronounced dead at the scene,” said Toronto police Sgt. Paul Bainard.

Police say the man was too far from the garage’s key box and opened the car door to access it. While doing this, he released pressure on the brake, causing the vehicle to move forward and him to become pinned as the hit the building.

The man’s name has not been released, and toxicology reports are pending.
