Ont. Gov’t Demands Craigslist Remove Erotic Ads

The chorus of policy makers urging Craigslist to remove erotic ads is growing stronger.

Three Ontario cabinet ministers sent a letter to the online service’s CEO, Jim Buckmaster, once again requesting it remove the erotic services ads in an effort to fight human trafficking.

The company has asked for a meeting with provincial officials, but they’ve said there’s no need for the company to wait for a sit-down to take action on the ads.

The letter, dated Oct. 20, states that Craigslist “has ignored the interests of Ontarians.”

Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and the federal government have all made the same request.

Craigslist agreed to remove sexual services ads from its site south of the border after receiving complaints from 17 states.
