TORONTO, Ont. – A man has been acquitted of First-Degree Murder in the 2002 death of a security guard working inside the Tropical Nights bar at Victoria Park and Danforth.
According to the Toronto Star, Richard Newman, 40, hugged his lawyer after the jury foreman said ‘not guilty’.
However, the not guilty verdict does not result in him walking free, as Newman is currently serving a 12 year sentence in the United States following a gun battle with U.S. Marshals in New York.
