New OLG system could help prevent lottery fraud

The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation’s new data storage system can monitor the transactions of retailers before and after redeeming a winning ticket. It would let the OLG know if retailers try to claim the ticket for themselves.

The new system allows the OLG to track where and when tickets are sold, validated and redeemed.

The system can also keep track of almost 12-billion lottery transactions dating back to March 1999.
