Scarborough Murder Victim Was Likely Targeted: Police

The victim of a fatal Scarborough shooting has been identified.

Carl Cole, 45, was killed in the Markham and Lawrence area around on November 24.Witnesses reported hearing approximately a dozen shots fired at 65 Greenbrae Circuit around 7pm. Cole was rushed to hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he later died.

“It sounds like he was definitely targeted,” Det. Sgt. Hank Idsinga said.

“There were a large number of shots fired. I’m not going to get into how many, but I would say there are at least two different firearms used,” he added.

Toronto Police believe the suspects may have made their getaway in the victim’s car, a silver 2006 Chrysler 300. That car was located on Thursday in the Neilson Road and Highway 401 area.

Cole did not live in the building and police aren’t sure why he was there at the time.

In the past week, Toronto has seen at least 11 shootings, four of them fatal.

“It’s tragic when you see this number of shootings in the city of Toronto,” said Toronto Police Insp. Gerry Cashman.

William Nathanson, 19, was killed on November 23.

Investigators are looking for the vehicle that may have been used in Cole’s murder. If you can help, call police 416-808-7392, Crime Stoppers anonymously 416-222-TIPS (8477), online www.222tips.com, text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637), or Leave A Tip on Facebook.
