Fire in Brampton being treated as suspicious

BRAMPTON, Ont. – A massive fire in Brampton, Ont., destroyed one home and forced the evacuation of several others, Wednesday.

Brampton firefighters said this is a suspicious blaze. The Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office will be conducting an investigation.

A two-storey house in the Bovaird Drive West and McLaughlin Road was reduced to a pile of ash and smoldering brick.

The only thing still standing were parts of the exterior brick walls and the frame of the two-car garage.

Neighbours who live two and three doors away from the fire scene told 680News the fire was so intense they could actually feel the heat radiating through their windows and walls.

Christina, who lives next door, said she woke up to find her bedroom lit up by an orange glow. She got up, looked out through her windows and saw her neighbour’s home in a ball of fire.

“The whole house is on fire, it’s like completely engulfed. I just felt a whole bunch of heat and flames, and so we just ran down the street, afraid that it would explode,” she said.

Christina’s house and another neighbouring home were also damaged.
