Bank firebomber to spend 3 years behind bars

OTTAWA, On. – A man found guilty of firebombing an Ottawa bank to protest the Olympics will spend three years behind bars.

The court heard that Roger Clement, 58, had a long history of activism and a troubled family past.

He told his sentencing hearing that he regretted the consequences of his actions and intends to use his time more wisely once he’s free.

But although Clement promised to never commit another crime, he failed to apologize for his actions.

The incident happened just before G20 in Toronto, sparking fears it was the start of more violence to come at the summit.
