Wikileaks founder Julian Assange walked out of London’s High Court Thursday free on bail attached to an electronic leash. He must also observe a curfew.
The 39-year-old Australian will be staying at a 10-bedroom mansion in Bungay to continue his work. He’s required to wear an electronic tag and report to police on a daily basis. He’s expected to remain at Ellingham Hall – an estate owned by Wikileaks supporter and the founder of Frontline Club for journalists, Vaughan Smith – for the next month.
Assange is currently fighting extradition to Sweden where he’s wanted for alleged sex crimes. Two women have filed complaints regarding “consensual but unprotected sex”. Assange hasn’t been charged and denies the accusations.
His next extradition hearing is slated for Jan. 11.
