7-Year-Old Dies After Being Pulled From Lake Ontario

A 7-year-old boy has died after being pulled from Lake Ontario.

He went missing while playing with friends Tuesday in Ryerson Park in Niagara-on-the-Lake. They told an adult, who called police.

His body was found in the water near shore at around 7pm, after local firefighters and members of the U.S. Coast Guard conducted an extensive search.

The child was rushed to hospital in St. Catharines, where he was declared dead around 9pm.

Police are treating the death as an accident and say there is no indication of foul play.
